Comphoppers Annual Meet-UP – March 2021
The Chimes Restaurant and Tap Room
Comphoppers held its annual meet-up at The Chimes Restaurant and Tap Room’s newest location in Covington, LA., and enjoyed the “made-from-scratch cuisine.” Think seafood and Southern/Cajun specialty items like hush puppies, boudin balls, alligator, and etouffee. Yummy. See Tracey’s Trip Reviews at https://www.tripadvisor.com/Profile/648traceyg
“The Chimes Restaurant & Tap Room has been a Baton Rouge and LSU tradition serving fine patrons for over 25 years. We take pride in having one of the most extensive beer and liquor selections available” thechimes.com
In Covington, the two-story wooden “fish camp” designed, Chimes restaurant sits next to the Bogue Fayala River. It is surrounded by Spanish moss-draped trees and wooden boardwalks.
When we arrived, the extensive parking area was nearly full, but we were quickly seated upstairs. Our table overlooked the river and the expansive taproom below. Our friendly server provided excellent service.
Take out, outdoor patio and open-air balcony seating are also available.
The Chimes is located at 19130 W. Front St, Covington, LA 70433 – (985) 892-5396
Canoe and Trail Adventures
Following the meeting where we announced our new Elite Team Members and caught up on the latest travel news and sales offerings, we head down the boardwalk to the river to take in the view and to watch the action. The area is a birders paradise.
“Relax and enjoy some time exploring the slow-flowing Bogue Fayala river.”
Canoe and Trail Adventures rents paddleboards, canoes, and kayaks from The Chimes location. The 2 – 4 hour rentals include equipment, float cases, and start from $25 pp person. The company also operates eco-friendly swamp tours. https://www.canoeandtrail.com/
